Happy holidays! It’s time for my annual collection of Online Stuff To Waste Time On. You know, in case you needed help not getting your work done. And, by the way, this is the TENTH year I’ve been putting out this list.
- Make your music sound like it’s playing on a Walkman. Dedgrade your digital music files so they sound like they did when you were a kid. No batteries required.
- Tap squares to make your own beat snippets. A fun little music tool that makes it hard to create something that sounds bad.
- Put any image on a very realistic waving flag. This one-trick pony is probably fun…once.
- Find your old Geocities site and even claim it. Believe it or not, it’s still around, and chances are good your old site is still on a server somewhere.
- Have fun with the Incredible Graphic Design Haiku Machine. This is essentially Mad Libs for haiku, with a graphic design bent.
- Let InspiroBot write an inspirational quote for you. ” I am an artificial intelligence dedicated to generating unlimited amounts of unique inspirational quotes for endless enrichment of pointless human existence. “
- Let the internet solve your argument for you. Let’s Settle This takes your family’s argument over what to watch on Netflix to the digital streets. Or, heck, have the mobs decide the fate of your marriage. Good luck with that.
- Help Santa decide if celebrities have been naughty or nice. Swipe left for naughty.
- Type in movie dialog, get a video clip back. Very handy when you’re looking for fodder for responding to that friend’s vaguebooking post.
- Make it look like you’re on a conference call at work while watching Netflix. I’m not sure how well this works if you’re NOT watching “The Office,” but it might be worth a shot.
What does this mean to me, Laura?
Probably not much, unless I’ve left your favorite out. Let me know which fun and cool sites you found this year in the comments.
